i can't stand it any longer...

so, i have a small issue, and i can't contain it any longer... i tend to not blog (i forgot i even had this thing until today, to be honest), and i really tend to not piss and moan about the government since it's something i can't change (despite the whole voting thing)... but i've reached the point where i just have to say something, and not because a lot of people will care, but rather because i just need to get the words out of my mouth so they don't rot my teeth... sigh...

fiscal cliff... yeah, maybe you've heard of it... it's this terrible cliff-like thing our wallets will fall off if the voter-appointed geniuses in the senate and house don't get their s*** (that's shorthand for shizz) figured out... well, allegedly this crisis has been averted, but for some reason everyone in the government (especially oregon's) is still whining that it's a bad solution and something something someone said will somehow put something up someone else's... ... ... ... ... wicked cool... soooooooo, is it fixed, or am i a monkey's uncle?..

each and every day, i thank our good lord that i work in the fiercely competitive world of for-profit industry, and in said world, if you don't do your job, well, someone else will get the job... now, make no mistake, i believe it is our god-given duty to vote or forever hold our peace (a whole other argument for another time that i would assuredly win), but i now have to ask the question about whether or not we need some of this government at all... correct me if i'm wrong, but our elected representatives are supposed to "represent" us, so it seems to me that if they do not do what we (the people) elect them to do (i.e. avert tax hikes, curb unnecessary spending, create jobs by helping small businesses, the usual etc.), then we either a) hire someone else, or b) get rid of their position altogether... that's sure how it works in the real world... i'm sure the rest of their job description has other things on it, but truth be told, if i only attended to the hidden responsibilities in my job description, that would likely not be enough for me to keep my job (ask my boss)... and let us not forget the fact that many of these people get paid for life even if they only hold their position for a few years (also, another rant for another time)...

this fiscal cliff deal we just cut is supposed to prevent tax hikes / leave the bush-era tax cuts in place for people making less than $450,000 (or as i like to call it, a baker's half mil)... however, i do actually make slightly less than that, and my taxes went up enough to potentially keep me from buying a house... thanks guys... at least you are doing a good enough job to validate staying in a small apartment with loud upstairs neighbors (slightly sarcastic)... no, i'm lying, this is not fun...

in all seriousness, though, this is silly... regardless of party affiliation, nothing is fixed, and neither side did their job... please do not respond with any "oh, god still something", or "well, at least something didn't something", because whether you intend it or not, you are defending elected officials who do not have the best interest's of this state in mind... i have no problem paying a little more to get a fix that makes sense, but paying money period to "consultants" who fail to do the main things for which they were hired/elected is something i will never be ok with... merkley, wyden, blumenauer, defazio, schrader, walden, and bonamici: please hustle... you're making me miss socal and schwarzenegger...
